One of the primary concerns for us at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) is the prevention and abatement of pollution, also one of the main reasons why we launched the National Clean Air Programme in January 2019. In fact, we recognise that air pollution is a key issue which needs to be addressed urgently.

Given the current scenario, the move by CSIR-NEERI to launch a website dedicated to air quality, is a welcome move. It is a decision that will help us in policy making, since it will contain studies done in past as well as present, on air pollution. Multidisciplinary studies on air quality under a single umbrella, will act as a forum for interaction between experts from cross sectoral domains, who can use it as a reference or guiding tool and perhaps to combat pollution. Additionally, it will aid young researchers and scientists with valuable material, including key studies, and the possible measures that can be undertaken to alter the existing levels of pollution.
I wish the team at CSIR-NEERI all the success with the launch of the website and hope this endeavour is extremely fruitful to new age students, researchers, scientists, policy makers and for us at the Ministry.

Our mission is to continue for nation-centre thrust to science, technology and societal pursuits. Owing to the pace of scientific and technological growth, there is a need to evolve, enhance our work and their results for the benefit of the society at large. To give wide publicity of this initiative, CSIR-NEERI is going to start “Indian Air quality studies Interactive Repository (IndAIR)” website to shatter norms that India has done little in terms of addressing the issue of air pollution. This website would showcase the studies and work of scientists done over decades.

I extend my best wishes to team CSIR-NEERI for this website. Moreover, I hope this will boost the morale of all the scientific community to continue in their future endeavours with zeal and hope.

With the emergence of digital India, it is much easier for scientific organizations to communicate with and popularise our findings among the people. In this regard, the launch of the website on air quality “ Indian Air Quality Studies Interactive Repository (IndAir)” is a move towards the end of spreading the word, making known the work that has been done till now in this aspect and finding the ways to address the growing challenges that India is confronted with, even as it readies measures to curb and tackle air pollution.
This website will help people and give young researchers an opportunity to use this as reference tool while they undertake studies multidisciplinary studies on air quality. Globally too, it is going to be unique measure by India, one that will give countries world over, delve into what our country is doing to address the growing challenges of air pollution. India which has signed the Paris Treaty, will therefore, also be credited with taking noteworthy measures to tackle the problem of pollution through a dedicated website.
I wish the team at CSIR-NEERI all the success with the launch of this website. Furthermore, I am hopefull and positive that this will be unique step towards not only creating an awareness about the problem that exists, but will also provide solutions to how it can be tackled thereby giving a set of ideas and measures for the policy makers to undertake, execute and implement.

While acting for - Hawa Badle Hassu, I realized that air pollution is a massive equalizer and it impacts more than our health! Probably even the our existence.

I was glad to know about an initiative by CSIR- NEERI, I was very impressed and was eager to be a part of the launch event on 6th November, 2019; unfortunately I could not be present due to a last minute change in my schedule. I am told that more 700 pre-internet era studies, and many of which are rare findings are going to be housed in IndAIR, this is really exciting!

I wish CSIR- NEERI all the very best in their endeavor towards this unique initiative, a move which is sure to inspire the scientific community to do even better in the times that lie ahead of us.
